Here at Adastral Flying Training, we teach all of our aerobatics in an Extra 200 as we believe it is the best aerobatic trainer available.
Extra 200 Specifications
The Extra 200 is a two-seat, tandem arrangement aerobatic aircraft fully capable of unlimited aerobatics. The extra 200 is a low-winged monoplane with a tail dragger landing gear and is slightly smaller than the Extra 300LP but the same size as the Extra 300s. The Extra 200 is stressesed for ±10 G and has a FAA certified load factor in the U.S. to ±10 G. The Extra 200 is powered by a fuel injected Lycoming AEIO-360-A1E which produces 200hp (149kW), slightly smaller than the Extra 300 making it an ideal training aircraft, and has a 3-blade constant speed MTV-12-B-C/C 183-17e propeller made of laminated wood encased in glass-fibre reinforced plastic.
Walta Extra designed the Extra 200 bringing it into production in 1996. The Extra 200 is based on the design of the Extra 300 sharing many similarities. The Extra 200 has a welded steel (4130) tube fuselage covered in fibreglass and fabric with a carbon/glass hybrid composite empennage (tail assembly), and a bubble canopy.
