Adastral Flying Training deliver flying training in an enjoyable, relaxed but professional style. We explain each lesson on the ground and then practice in the air. On landing the major learning points are debriefed and the student and instructor agree what should be covered in the next lesson. This all sounds straight forward, it is and it is the ideal way to learn.
Most flying schools have to rush the brief and debrief and consequently lessons can lose some value through lack of mutual preparation. The most significant cost is running the aircraft, it seems a shame to waste flying time and sometimes reduce the students confidence by saving just ten minutes on the ground. A lot of value is gained by chatting over a cup of coffee after a flight.
The RAF provide excellent flying training and being ex-RAF, we have adapted the key principles and techniques to the sports flying world.
Our forte is aerobatics and advanced pilot training. We specialise in complex type conversion, proper visual navigation and advanced stall / spin recovery, or what the Americans call upset training. We also cover Farm strip and tail dragger training.
Flying should be fun, if you have been inadequately trained, you may well lack a little self confidence and flying becomes a slightly daunting effort and less fun. Remember, "Top Gun Aces" are not super human, they have just been very fortunate to have been given lots of really good training. Good flying is down to proper training.

We currently do not do Instrument Ratings, IMC ratings or Multi Engine ratings
Ground School
PPL / CPL / ATPL ground school is often daunting. We are pleased to offer 1 to one tuition. We will give you the foundation necessary to operate safely but also coach you through the exams. We have never had a student fail an exam! We have our own training notes which are probably the best in the industry. Our Chief instructor spent a career flying and teaching in the RAF and is able to bring very dry subjects to life. Anecdotes and practical examples are used extensively to add entertainment and ensure the knowledge stays fresh in your memory forever! Many trainee airline pilots find difficulty during integrated courses with well known companies and use our services to get through the more daunting exams. We have a database of almost all the question asked and are happy to work through the real questions making the exams easy.
